The feminism club meets about twice a month to raise awareness about women’s rights issues. During meetings, we discuss problems that women face internationally and within our own communities. Feminism Club provides a safe place for students to voice their concerns and stories in an open-minded and supportive environment. Through our events, we work to redefine feminism in a more positive light and to show HHS that anyone can be and should be a feminist.
Past activities have included hosting award-winning slam poet Sierra DeMulder, joining Girl Up (the leading global community of passionate advocates changing policies and raising funds to support United Nations programs that help the hardest to reach girls living in places where it is hardest to be a girl), purchasing nine bicycles for girls in Malawi, taking a self-defense class, volunteering at a women's shelter, hosting a screening of He Named Me Malala, participating in International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and more! |
